Directors
The director is in charge of the creative process and is responsible for the creative vision behind any play in The Barn. They are responsible for taking rehearsals and making casting decisions. Anyone can apply to direct. You will need to find a producer, which the society can help you with. If you are interested in applying, make sure you come along to our applications workshop which will take place in week 7. All you need to do then is find a play you want to direct and fill out the play application form and submit it in week 7 of term. A panel of the DramaSoc committee then chooses the next terms line up after interviewing prospective directors and producers.
Producers
Producers are responsible for the practical responsibilities associated with putting a show on The Barn. This includes booking rehearsal rooms, managing a budget allocated by the society, publicising a show, sourcing props and costume and organising set building. The society is always in need of producers. If you don’t have a director in mind the committee can put you in touch with a prospective director. Once you have submitted an application the committee will interview you and your director for a slot in our line up.
Technical Staff
The technical staff are responsible for the lighting, sound and sometime video used in shows. No experience is necessary to get involved in the tech and technical staff are always in demand!
